In 1994, the challenges that we faced were essentially South African: racial reconciliation; democratisation; justice. However, today we live in a globalised world in which our problems are truly international. Subsequently, Students for Change is working to devise truly South African policy solutions to our most pressing problems, specifically global warming, international trade and drugs trafficking.
The organisation has made contact with students in Canada who share our passion for progressive change. We hope to broaden these links to include other African students as well as students from developing countries around the world. Ultimately, we hope that this network will be able to bring pressure to bear upon our institutions and governments, to ensure that the world we and our children inherit will not bear the scars of today’s destruction. If you would like to your organisation or university to develop links with Students for Change, please contact us at studentsforchangeinsouthafrica@gmail.com.
Most importantly, we believe that if empowered, South Africa’s youth will be able to thrive upon the challenges we face. Students for Change intends to work with its international partners to create entrepreneurship opportunities amongst high school learners and university students, especially in the areas of water treatment and electricity conservation.

We intend to publish more comprehensive policies on trade, poverty and the environment after our Conversation with the Nation project in July 2008.
