JOIN STUDENTS FOR CHANGE...

There are a number of ways through which you can play a meaningful role in our efforts to bring a new version of politics to South African university campuses and broader society.

Firstly, you can join our group on Facebook (Students for Change in South Africa) and add your thoughts to the ongoing policy debates. Furthermore, by inviting all your friends to join the group, you will contribute to the scope of the movement and its influence. If you are not on Facebook, then email your contact details to studentsforchangeinsouthafrica@gmail.com and we will keep you in touch with any developments or opportunities.

If you are not a student at UCT, contact us about establishing Students for Change on your own university campus. UCT students who are interested in serving on Faculty or Residence Councils or the SRC should also contact us about being selected as one of our candidates. In particular, we are looking for talented campaign managers to run our 21 separate campaigns in September.
Most importantly, you can participate in our Conversation with the Nation Campaign in July 2008. Your work will involve taking our message to high schools, religious institutions and civic forums in your particular area of the country. Additionally, you can assist with our drive to increase applications to tertiary institutions. We will be working with provincial education departments to identify the most promising learners in Grades 11 and 12 and will be assisting them with the daunting process of applying for university.

Furthermore, we are also looking for assistance in our financial aid efforts. Every year, thousands of talented young South Africans are excluded from universities due to lack of financial resources. Many do not even get accepted into their first year of study. We intend to compile a resource book specific to each faculty of study which will list the relevant bursary and scholarship opportunities along with the contact details of the corporate sponsors. We aim to promulgate these guides in a number of languages, specifically English, Zulu, Sotho and Afrikaans.

Finally, Students for Change is working to develop ties with similar progressive, youth led organisations around the world. If you are a South African living abroad or a citizen of another country who shares our views, please contact us about building a network of student organisations that can help empower the youth to lead society.
